YA Highway

I love YA Highway. I have multiple reasons, but here are a few:
  • Their Publishing Roadmap is a God-send, with articles on every stage of the writing/editing/publishing process there is. I swear this is the best aggregation of links on writing, revising, publishing, and everything in between. And it’s fun to look at too!
  • YA Highway: Writing Process and Tools (Also, their writing playlists are great for getting into the writing mood.)
  • Time Management: Taken from YA Highway's List. Maggie (Stiefvater)'s Excessively Long Post on Time Management, Write a Novel in 90 Days (Or Less!) by Cynthia Jaynes Omololu, The Night Writer by Phoebe North, and The Blessed Distraction of Technology by Colson Whitehead.
  • YA Highway: Word Count
  • World Building: World Building Questions by Patricial C Wrede, World Building 101 from MadCon Panel via Jenna Reynolds, World Building Checklist by Talia Vance, Creating Fantasy/SciFi Worlds by Michael James Liljenberg, Sanderson's First Law of Magic by Brandon Sanderson, Fantasy World Building: Magical Rules by author Carolyn Kaufman, Using Real-World Tools to Make Fantasy feel Real by author Meagan Spooner
  • So… I took all these links from YA Highway’s list, but these were the articles that really stood out to me: Lydia Sharp, On Writing Sequels; Stacy Whitman, On Sequels; Veronica Roth, Some Answers: On Sequels; Marie Lu, What About Book 3?; Michelle Zink, Writing a Complete Story as Part of a Trilogy; Michelle Schusterman, How to Make a Series Bible; Ash Krafton, Engineering a Fiction Series; Veronica Roth, Why a Trilogy is like a Long-Term Relationship and Why a Trilogy is Actually More Like Polygamy (Or Is It?)
  • It was bound to happen sooner or later. Here are the 4 posts by YA author Kody Keplinger, addressing Sex in YA: Part 1: Taboos, Part 2: Keeping It Safe, Part 3: Stereotypes, Part 4: YA vs. Romance Sex Scenes

    About Me

I'm a self-published author— because being a college student wasn't hard enough! I write YA multi-genre fiction for young adults or the young at heart. I love This Is Us, NCIS, BBC's Sherlock,
    and musical theater.
