Publication: September 20th, 2013
Category: New Adult (NA) Genre: Urban Fantasy (UF)
Being strong is one thing. Being an unlimited source of power is quite another.
Genetically altered by the Organization, Annie Fox takes down criminals CIA-style with her luminary strength. With nothing to mend but her broken heart, she is relentlessly pursued by her boss Derek Lake. Just when Annie is about to give him a chance, her ex-husband unexpectedly comes out of hiding.
A wanted man, Nick Logan is a cold-hearted murderer who is considered enemy number one, and orders are clear: kill on contact. He is more powerful than ever and threatens the lives of those she holds most dear. His plan? Get his hands on Annie and use her Kinetic energy to destroy them all. When Annie finds herself with an opportunity to end him, she pauses, horrified by the scars covering the face she once loved. A split second that will cost her everything …
** Kinetic is a stand-alone novel. All books in series are part of the same world with the characters intertwined. **
Interview with Annie Fox
How long have you been working for the Organization?
I’ve been with the Org for eight years now.
Do you remember your life before getting your powers?
I do remember. It wasn’t a great life, sadly. Sometimes I wish I could forget it.
What is the best thing about your powers?
I’m so tiny I love seeing the shock on people’s faces when I lift things like cars or kick their butts in a heartbeat. Also, I love that it’s really difficult to harm me.
Sometimes when I get angry it’s hard to control my strength and well… I tend to break anything that’s in my way, including people o_O
How did you meet Nick Logan?
I met him during training when I first joined the Org. He was one year ahead of me and was always an arrogant-full-of-himself-idiot.
What did you like about him when you agreed to marry him?
Oh, well apart from being full of himself, he did help me out with some difficult situations so I guess he used to have a sweet side too. All right, all right… he was my rock back then and showed me that life could be beautiful if I just left the past behind me. But that was then, he showed me right back that life sucks.
How long ago did he disappear?
Three years ago…
Did he say goodbye when he left? If not, were you hurt by that?
Did he? No, he did not! Nick left divorce papers on our kitchen counter for me to find one morning, no notes, nothing… And yes, I was hurt. He crushed me and left me in little pieces, if only I could get my hands on him…
How would you describe your boss, Derek Lake?
Derek is very passionate about everything he cares about… a bit borderline but maybe I just feel this way since I’m at the top of the list of his passions along with the Org.
Why have you rejected his advances?
Well… he deserves better, I didn’t think it would be fair to him. I mean, how can he be happy with an empty shell that can’t even pretend to have a heart?
If you could give advice to someone in a position of power, what would it be?
Easy: Don’t let it get to your head and remember that real power is more about knowing when and how to use it. Also, be warned that if you don’t use it for good, I’m coming after you.
